My name is Tommy Hockenjos and "who am I?" is one of my least favorite questions. I would use to describe myself as...

Student, Researcher, Fitness enthusiast, Personal Trainer, Shoe fanatic, Cook, Fun Loving, Irrational Sport Fan, etc

However, I will try to lay out my  education, qualifications, goals, and life story in a more organized manner down below.

Life story:

I grew up as an active child who loved sports, with my first word being "ball". My life came to a halt in 8th grade when I tore my ACL for the first time.  Following seemingly endless rehab, I was finally  back to sports.  This was only to tear my ACL again 26 months later.  At that point I knew exactly what I wanted to do with my life... I wanted to help athlete recover and prevent injuries, while also helping them maximize their performance. I saw an opportunity to advance this dream at High Point University with their state of the art Biomechanics lab.

Education:

I graduated undergrad with Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science with a concentration in Biomechanics and minor in Biology. During my time in undergrad I had the opportunity to work in a world class Biomechanics laboratory and was able to serve as a research assistant on projects funded by the National Institute of Health and by Adidas.  From my time in the lab, I had the opportunity to present my research at the American College of Sports Medicine Annual Meeting in Minneapolis.  I have also been apart of other abstracts/papers that have been presented at other nationally and internationally recognized conferences/journals.

Currently I am a second year student in a Doctorate of Physical Therapy Program. Clinically I am interested in helping athletes improve their performance while reducing injury risk.

Certifications:

National Academy of Sports Medicine- Certified Personal Trainer

National Academy of Sports Medicine- Performance Enhancement Specialist

International Sports Science Association - Specialist in Sports Nutrition
